Dismantling a network accused of shipping 30 tons of Captagon to Saudi Arabia

Austrian police said they have dismantled a drug and stimulant trafficking network and arrested 15 suspects, after a three-year investigation that required the help of law enforcement agencies abroad.

Prosecutors pointed out that the organization is accused of shipping up to 30 tons of Captagon tablets to Saudi Arabia in the past few years, with a market value of nearly $180 million.

Christian Vogenberger, head of the Regional Criminal Investigation Office in Salzburg, was quoted by the Austrian news agency APA as explaining that the police “arrested 13 suspects on March 22 in Austria and 2 others in Germany,” noting that “Austria was a stop-off for drug smuggling that was being smuggled out of the country.” Made in Lebanon.
