Casemiro’s header qualifies Brazil and complicates Colombia’s chances of a “controversial” win

Brazil trailed for the first time in eight games but responded with a controversial goal before snatching a 2-1 victory over Colombia in stoppage time in the Copa America soccer tournament last night.

The defending champions went into the match after winning their last nine matches but were conceded 10 minutes later when Luis Diaz scored a stunning goal.

Brazil equalized through Roberto Firmino 12 minutes before the end, amid protests from Colombian players after referee Nestor Pitana refused to stop play after hitting the ball.

The protests led to 10 minutes of injury time and Casemiro added to Colombia’s anguish when he headed in a last-minute corner kick to give Brazil their third win in three matches in the tournament.
