Paris: The Williams team, participating in the Formula One World Championship, announced, on Wednesday, the appointment of its chief executive since last February, German Jost Capito, and one of the well-known faces in motorsport, as the team director, succeeding the departing British Simon Roberts, on the background of an “internal restructuring”.
French technical director François-Xavier Dumaison will occupy the position of engineer in charge of the circuit, in addition to his duties in the engineering department.
“We want to restructure the team’s internal streamlining of operations with a long-term goal of bringing Williams back to the front line,” the prestigious English barn said in a statement.
These drastic changes come after the US investment fund “Dorilton Capital” bought the team last year from its legendary owner “Sir” Frank Williams.
Roberts, 58, joined Williams in June 2020 as general manager, before temporarily taking over as manager after the sale in August of the same year, only to return to the team and announce his confirmation before the end of last year.
For his part, Capito, 62, has held various managerial roles in the motoring world since 1989, moving between Porsche, Sauber, Ford and Volkswagen.
