Mexican Sergio Perez described Friday’s practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2021 F1 season, as his best since joining the Red Bull team.
As Perez joined Red Bull in early 2021 to partner with Max Verstappen, and the team’s goal was for Perez to play a supporting role for Verstappen, so that there was a great convergence of performance between the two.
But in the first five rounds of the season, Verstappen’s advantage was noticeably better, who won two races, while Perez was unable to podium in any races.
However, Perez’s speed in Friday practice at the Baku City Circuit was good, with the fastest time in the second practice, knowing that he had previously podiumed twice in Baku.

“I am happy with this day of testing, and for sure we have made good progress,” said Perez.
“We could have analyzed the data from the Monaco tour, so in Baku I felt that I could understand the car better and how to follow the proper driving style.”
“I think Friday’s test in Baku was the best I’ve had since joining the Red Bull team in terms of collecting data and driving comfort.”
وأضاف: “Hopefully we can get a good clean lap in qualifying, that’s what matters, and we have to work hard tonight to try to make extra gains and improve the pace of the car.”
