Apple will continue to update iOS 14 even after the release of iOS 15

As MacRumors reports, current iOS 14 will allow you to choose whether you want to upgrade to iOS 15 once it’s released or continue with iOS 14 while still receiving critical security patches.

Apple reiterates that the latest firmware will contain the “most complete set of security updates” while the previous version will continue to receive important security updates.

Apple has been adamant about iOS updates in the past, and hasn’t allowed iOS devices to roll back to an old update. This resulted in devices staying with the latest firmware and discouraging downgrades to older systems.

This new change gives users time to update if they have device limitations or requirements for iOS devices operated by organizations such as schools.
