There were reports of signs of a crisis in the French team camp between the two stars of the team, Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe, following the controversial statements he made in the past few days about the lack of help from colleagues.
Giroud scored twice in France’s recent friendly victory over Bulgaria and then came out saying he could have scored more had he had better help from some of his teammates.
The newspaper “L’Equipe” said that the statements of the Chelsea striker made Mbappe angry and considered them a kind of hint to him personally.
The report added that Mbappe’s anger is so great that he asked the French national team officials to hold a press conference for him personally in order to respond to Giroud’s statements in public.
Giroud’s controversial statements are not the first with the French national team, and he has previously argued with his colleague Karim Benzema, although the duo retracted these statements and confirmed the reconciliation.
The French national team is currently preparing for Euro 2020, and concluded its preparations with a friendly victory over Bulgaria with three clean goals, a match that witnessed the injury of Benzema and Giroud scoring two goals.
France plays in Group F of the European Nations, which was described as the Group of Death due to the presence of defending champions Portugal, Germany and Hungary.
