An accident ends Baku’s third practice early for Verstappen


The third practice session of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2021 F1 season, ended early for Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen after he was involved in an accident.

Verstappen has started his final preparations for the qualifying session at the Baku City Circuit, completing some fast laps with hard tires in third practice.

However, on his third fast lap on the hard tyres, Verstappen delayed the brakes at Turn 15, which led to him hitting the barriers at that turn.

Verstappen tried to return the car and continue driving, but this was not possible due to the damage to the front suspension, so the Dutchman had no choice but to turn off the car and withdraw from the rest of the testing process.

This incident led to red flags being raised and testing halted for a few minutes while Verstappen’s car was taken off the track.
