Qatar Airways said, “The surface under the paint covering a number of its Airbus A350 aircraft is being damaged rapidly, so we will not receive any new aircraft from these wide-body aircraft until the problem is resolved.”
There is a dispute between the Gulf carrier and the European company, and Qatar Airways last week warned the plane maker of “industrial repercussions” if the dispute was not resolved, but it has not revealed enough details about the talks so far.
An Airbus spokesman said, “The company is in constant talks with its customers, but such conversations are confidential.”
Last Thursday, the CEO of Qatar Airways urged the Airbus board of directors to intervene in the dispute between the two companies, warning that “the failure to find a solution may have repercussions for the European aircraft maker.”
“The ball is in Airbus’ court to find a solution before the dispute escalates further,” Akbar al-Baker said.
