The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs confirmed that it was “following up on the information it received about the kidnapping of a girl of Jordanian nationality, two days ago, in Libya and subjecting her to ill-treatment.”

In a statement published by the official news agency “Petra”, Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dhaifallah Al-Fayez said that “the ministry, through the operations center, is in constant contact with the Libyan authorities through the Libyan embassy in Amman.”

The ministry quoted the embassy as saying that “the Libyan authorities, upon receiving information about the incident, took the necessary legal and security measures, as the girl was placed in a safe place, and legal measures are being taken against the aggressors.”

Al-Fayez added that the ministry is working with the Libyan authorities to find out the merits of the case and to provide support to the Jordanian citizen, “and communication is underway with her relatives in the Kingdom to put them in the picture of the developments.”
