The European Union’s data protection commission has proposed to fine US e-commerce giant Amazon more than $425 million, news reports said Thursday.
And the US Dow Jones News website quoted informed sources as saying that the reason for the fine is to accuse Amazon of violating the General Data Protection Act in Europe, collecting and using personal data.Bloomberg News notes that Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing company, is not part of the case.

For this fine to be imposed, it must be approved by the privacy and other data protection authorities of the European Union, which can take months, and may lead to an increase or decrease in the fine.
