French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped in the face yesterday by a man standing in a crowd while the president was touring the south of the country, according to a video clip of the incident.
Local media said that the security entourage accompanying Macron, quickly intervened and threw the man to the ground and removed Macron from him, and the police arrested two people in connection with the incident.
Prime Minister Jan Castilles said the incident was an affront to democracy. The incident occurred while Macron was visiting the Drôme district, where he met with diners and students.
