5 countries benefit from Saudi Arabia’s campaign to combat blindness


Yesterday, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action signed an agreement with the Al-Basr International Charitable Foundation to implement a number of medical campaigns in the field of combating blindness and the diseases caused in 5 countries, benefiting 150,000 people.The agreement was signed by the Assistant General Supervisor for Planning and Development of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, Dr. Aqil Al-Ghamdi, and the Secretary-General of the Al-Basr Foundation, Dr. Adel Al-Rashoud, at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh.

Dr. Aqeel Al-Ghamdi explained that under the agreement, 30 medical campaigns will be implemented with the participation of Saudi volunteers and doctors in Yemen, Sudan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Bangladesh, during which about 12,000 surgeries will be performed.

He added that these medical campaigns come within a series of volunteer programs funded and implemented by the center in many needy countries under the guidance of the wise leadership – supported by God – in order to achieve the Kingdom’s vision 2030 in supporting volunteer work.
