US stocks open higher on broad gains by Reuters

(Reuters) – US stocks opened higher on Friday amid broad gains as investors looked to prospects for an economic recovery after fears of rising inflation sparked volatility throughout the week.

The industrial index rose 29.41 points, equivalent to 0.09 percent, to reach 34,050.86 points, and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index advanced 17.08 points, or 0.42 percent, to record 4,129.58 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased 130.66 points, or 1 percent, to 13,255.65 points.
