Twitter announced a new acquisition, as it acquired Scroll, which provides a service to remove ads from news sites, for a monthly subscription of $ 5.

The work of the service is based on deleting ads from the sites participating in the service, and thus the sites get a percentage of the subscriptions in exchange for providing news content to users without ads – that is, its work is the role of an intermediary to remove ads in return.

The mechanism of action revolves around the use of third-party cookies or browser add-ons to warn websites not to display ads to the subscribing user, which leads to stopping the display of ads to users who pay two months of subscriptions for the service, and then you compensate the site owners with a percentage of the subscription value.

Twitter’s acquisition of Scroll comes to enhance its plan to expand content, especially news, especially after the acquisition of the Revue newsletter service about three months ago.

After this acquisition, Scroll stopped registering more subscribers on its site, and it is not known if and how it will open the door again to subscribe.

Scroll has another service called Nuzzel that collects the most important events for users on Twitter and then sends them via e-mail to them on a daily basis, a service that will be closed on May 6, and then it will be integrated into Twitter for all users at a later time, according to the company.

It is noteworthy that Scroll has previously confirmed that it provides more money to partner sites thanks to the subscription system, than it used to get from the same users by showing ads.
