The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which distributes the Golden Globe Awards annually for television and film business, has approved sweeping changes to its membership to ensure diversity among its ranks. Among the steps are the creation of the position of “Responsible for Diversity”, an emphasis on the inclusion of black journalists, and the expansion of applicants to join the group of foreign journalists responsible for entertainment. Yesterday, the League also supported adding at least 20 new members this year to its current 87 members.
“Today’s overwhelming vote to reform the association reaffirms our commitment to change,” said Association President Ali Sarr.
