German investor confidence rises as the “Covid-19” wave recedes


A survey showed, Tuesday, that German investor confidence improved in May thanks to the receding of the third wave of the “Covid-19” pandemic, which predicts a significant improvement in the largest economy in Europe during the next six months.

The ZAW Economic Research Institute said its survey of investor economic sentiment rose to 84.4 points from 70.7 the previous month, and a Reuters poll expected it to rise to 72.0.

“The slowdown in the third wave of” Covid-19 “has increased the optimism of financial market experts, Achim Vampach, head of the institute, said in a statement.

He added, “Experts expect a significant economic improvement in the next six months.”

A separate gauge of current conditions increased to minus 40.1 points from minus 48.8 in the previous month and compared to expectations of minus 41.3 points.
