Real Madrid, which is seeking to appoint a new coach for the team to succeed Zinedine Zidane, had announced the signing of Alaba in a free transfer deal with the expiration of the player’s contract with Bayern Munich, and the Austrian star signed a 5-year contract with the Spanish club.
After the deal was announced on Friday, Alaba took to social media to talk about his move from Munich to the Spanish capital, after winning 27 titles with Bayern Munich.
Austrian international Alaba, 28, said on the social networking site “Twitter”: “I am leaving a club of a special model for another club of a special model.”
“After many years in Munich, I will take on this new challenge and do my best to continue making history with this special club.”
“I can’t wait to play my first game in this legendary white shirt in front of all of you, Real Madrid fans.”
“I am convinced that this experience will be full of success,” he added.
