Conte is about to leave Inter Milan

The relationship between Italian club Inter, which was recently crowned champion of the league for the first time since 2010, and coach Antonio Conte, is experiencing great tension due to the latter’s opposition to the club’s owners’ plan to cut the budget, according to what the Italian press confirmed on Wednesday.
The newspaper «Gazzetta dello Sport» headlined on its front page «Inter Conte, it is divorce», adding that «the official farewell may come within the next 48 hours», while the contract stipulates that Conte will stay for an additional season.
At the root of the dispute between the Chinese “Suning” group, which owns the club, and Conte, lies the club’s serious financial difficulties that would prevent the coach from having the players he believes he needs to continue the winning journey for the team.
Last season, Inter recorded losses that exceeded 100 million euros, and “Soning”, the electronic product distribution giant, which has owned about 70 percent of Inter’s shares since 2016, is itself in a state of financial fluctuation, especially due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic.
That is why the group withdrew from the Chinese club, Jiangsu, which was also crowned champion recently, and was forced to close its doors at the end of February.
Five days ago, Inter concluded an agreement with the US investment fund Oaktree Capital, which will provide it with 275 million euros in the form of a loan.
According to the Italian newspaper, the Soning Group will have to repay the loan granted within the next three years.
In this context, the Chinese group wants to save as much money as possible when buying new players and setting their salaries, while looking for added value by selling those who have the highest market value, an approach that Conte considers incompatible with the desire to play at the highest level in Europe.
