Football and music fans in Spain breathed a sigh of relief Monday after the Spanish League decided to change the dates of matches to ensure that it did not conflict with the Eurovision Song Contest.
The league changed the dates of all matches related to title disputes, to avoid relegation, or to reserve European seats until 6 pm (1600 GMT) on Saturday.
The Eurovision competition, which is watched by almost 200 million people on television, will start three hours after these matches.
The League initially set the date for the Eibar match against Barcelona from Sunday to Saturday after Eibar’s relegation to the second division, and the match returned to its original date after discovering that the result may affect the relegation of another team.
On Monday, the league said it had changed the dates of several matches, including the presentation of the Villarreal match against Real Madrid from Sunday to Saturday.
Villarreal manager Roig Nigeriolis earlier accused the league of “a lack of respect” for not giving his team more time to prepare for Manchester United in the European League final on 26 May.
The match against Real, who is clinging to the hope of winning the title, will be held on Saturday at 6:00 pm, the same date as the match between leaders Atletico Madrid, who is two points ahead of its neighbors Real, in front of its host Valladolid.
