Catalan leave decides the position of Xavi leadership of Barcelona

Xavi Hernandez, the former Barcelona captain, is close to assuming the leadership of the team during the coming period, succeeding Ronald Koeman.

Reports confirmed (Monday) that the Barcelona administration settled by 90% on the departure of Coman this summer, despite the extension of his contract with the club for a new season, after the Catalan team lost the opportunity to officially crown the Spanish League after losing (Sunday) 1-2 at home to Celta Vigo. In the 37th round of the competition.

And the Catalan newspaper Sport stated that the Barcelona administration headed by Juan Laporta is making progress in negotiations with Xavi, who arrives Monday in the Catalonia region to spend his summer vacation, which will witness the final decision of him regarding the training of the team or not.

The newspaper confirmed that if Laporta reached an agreement with Xavi, Coman would be sacked, and the legend of Barcelona and the former Spain national team would be announced in his place.

The previous Barcelona administration, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu, had negotiated with Xavi several times before in order to lead the team, but no agreement was reached between the two parties, due to the former Barça star’s rejection of the policies of the dismissed president.

Xavi, the 41-year-old, is currently leading the Qatari Al-Sadd team, and his contract with him will continue until the summer of 2023, but it includes a clause stipulating that it can be terminated if Barcelona contracted with him, so he will leave for free if he reaches an agreement with the Catalan club to lead him in the next stage.

It is noteworthy that Coman did not succeed in his first season with Barcelona except in winning a single title, the King’s Cup, in exchange for a farewell to the Champions League early in the final price against Paris Saint-Germain, and losing the La Liga title after a flopped performance, and before this and that the loss of the Spanish Super Cup Out of the semi-finals.
