Actor Samer Al-Masry, one of the heroes of the series “Bab Al-Hara”, in which he played the character of “Al-Akid Abu Shehab,” considered that the events of “Bab Al-Hara”, which he preferred to withdraw from, were not convincing, stressing that the series ended dramatically. Al-Masry said during his interview on the “People Online” program that the parts of the series that followed his withdrawal are “production and directive,” adding that after his withdrawal he did not follow any part of “Bab Al-Hara”.
He pointed out that on one occasion he saw a clip of the series in which a plane was bombing the neighborhood, which made him sad when the series reached after the mass success achieved by the Arabs. He said, “It must have been called the bullet of mercy a long time ago.”
Abu Shihab added that “Bab Al-Hara” ended .. “If you wanted 50 writers, you would no longer be able to create convincing events.”
He pointed out that he is selective in choosing his works, and rejects any material that is “fabricated or false,” referring to the other reason that called him to leave the work.He stated that he is looking for serious and convincing materials for the public, stressing the importance of his credibility with the public that he does not sell for money.
Regarding the great decline in Syrian drama, Al-Masry stated that during the years of the war, the drama became suffering from many problems, including the dispersion of actors, writers and directors in many countries, and some of them could not return to Syria, so this was a hindrance to the producers.
A number of the Syrian representatives left Syria for fear of arrest or death by the regime’s security services because of their support for the Syrian revolution.
