After accusations of sexual assault, FIFA imposes penalties on the supervisor of the Haitian women's team

On Monday, FIFA decided to suspend the supervisor of the Haitian youth team, Nella Joseph, from practicing all football-related activities at the national and international levels for a period of 10 years.

The FIFA Ethics Committee found Mrs. Nella Joseph, supervisor of the Haitian U-20 women’s national team, guilty of failing to protect the physical and mental integrity of the players who were under her responsibility, and was fined 20,000 Swiss francs.

This comes against the background of the case of the president of the Haitian Football Association, Yves Janbart, who was convicted of misusing his position and of harassing and sexual assault of several players, including minors, “between 2014 and 2020.

Last November, FIFA announced the suspension of the president of the Haitian Confederation, Janbart, for life, and a fine of one million Swiss francs.

Cases filed against other Haitian Football Association officials are still pending, for other people who have been identified as being involved (as officials, accomplices or instigators) in acts of systematic sexual assault against female footballers.
