Christie’s auction house is offering for sale this month the largest ever 100.94-carat diamond bearing the name “Alrosa Spectacle” of Russian origin.
The diamond is expected to record between 12 and 18 million Swiss francs ($ 19.96 million) at auction scheduled for May 12.
Marie-Cecil Sesamolo, an expert in the jewelry department at auction house, said: “This magnificent diamond, weighing a hundred carats, was extracted from a rough stone that originally weighed more than 200, and was called the Sergey Diaghilev rough and was mined in 2016.”
“It took a year and eight months between the rough stone and the perfect diamond that we are showing today,” she added.
The diamond is one of 144 precious pieces offered by the house for sale, including diamond and sapphire rings and earrings.
