The festival will be held from the 18th to the 22nd of next May in the historic island of Dalma, while the race will be scheduled during that period according to the weather conditions.
The fourth edition of the festival is held according to the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, as the organizing committee stressed a set of measures that do not tolerate it.
The festival is sponsored by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Al Masoud Motors, and the Delma Cooperative Society. The support comes within the framework of national companies ’keenness to participate and play the role assigned to them in community events in support of the maritime heritage, which is an integral part of the authentic national heritage.
The Abu Dhabi Sail Club announced the opening of registration for sailors from tomorrow, Thursday, until the ninth of next May, and the club allocated 25 million dirhams in cash prizes for the holders of the first to one hundred in the final arrangement of participants, which are the most expensive and largest prizes in the history of heritage marine races at all in Country and region in general.
The historic Dalma Festival race is the longest among the 60-foot sailing bearings races, with a total distance of 80 nautical miles, equivalent to 125 kilometers, and it is the largest in terms of prize value, where the champion will receive a million and a half dirhams in addition to a car, while the runner-up will get One million and one hundred thousand dirhams and a car, and the third place holder is nine hundred thousand dirhams and a car.
It is also the only race that starts from the historical island of Dalma, and passes through seven different islands, which are Dalma Island at the beginning, then Sir Bani Yas, and then Ghasha Island, followed by a passage through Umm Al-Turcom Island, then Al-Fatayer, then Al-Bazm, then Marawah and finally Janana Island before arriving. The contestants will pass a crossing gate 65 km from the start, specifically between the islands of Al-Bazm and Al-Fatayer.
