The postponed final of the Spanish Football Cup from last season due to the repercussions of the Corona virus, will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at 22:30 Jerusalem, in the city of Seville, between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao for the first time in the Basque derby.

Ironically, Bilbao will play its first final before playing the second two weeks later against Barcelona at the same stadium.

The final match of the 2019-2020 season was scheduled to take place last April, but the spread of the Corona virus caused it to be postponed to April this year.

Athletic Bilbao, the 23-time Spanish Cup winner, qualified for the two finals and faced the start of Real Sociedad, before two weeks later the 26-time champion challenged Barcelona, where he would try to lift the domestic trophy twice within days.

Bilbao is considered one of the clubs accustomed to competing in the finals, as it has lost three times to Barcelona in the final in the last 12 years, and also lost the European League final, “Europa League” to Atletico Madrid in 2012.

Bilbao has not succeeded in winning the Spanish Cup since 1984 when it defeated “Barca” in a match that witnessed a famous fight caused by the late Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona when he was a player in Barcelona.

In contrast, Real Sociedad have only won the cup twice, while they are fighting their first final since 1988.
