A pioneer in the stability of energy markets, we will continue this role to achieve leadership in the field of renewable energy. “

He added: This occasion expresses our determination to be pioneers in all energy sectors, and our endeavor to achieve the optimal mix of them, and enhance the efficiency of their production and consumption, as we are witnessing today the launch and operation of the Sakaka plant for the production of electricity from solar energy, which represents our first steps to exploit renewable energy in the Kingdom. . In the near future, the construction of the Dumat Al-Jandal plant to produce electricity from wind energy will be completed.

He continued: Today we are witnessing the signing of agreements for seven new projects to produce electricity from solar energy, in different regions of the Kingdom, and the production capacity of these projects, in addition to the Sakaka and Domat al-Jandal projects, will reach more than (3600) megawatts, and they will provide electrical energy to more than (600) thousand housing units, and will reduce more than (7) million tons of greenhouse emissions, and some of these projects have achieved new records represented in registering the lowest cost of purchasing electricity produced from solar energy in the world. As the cost of purchasing electricity from the Shuaiba project reached (1.04) US cents per kilowatt hour, and these projects will follow – God willing – other renewable energy projects around the world, which we will announce in due course. “

His Highness affirmed that these projects, and other renewable energy projects, which are being established throughout the Kingdom, represent essential elements in the plans aiming to reach the optimal energy mix for the production of electricity, which aims to make the share of gas and renewable energy sources in this mix about (50 %) By the year 2030 AD, and for gas and renewable energy to replace approximately one million barrels of oil equivalent of liquid fuels per day, which are used as fuel in the production of electricity and water desalination and in other sectors, in order to reach the optimal mix, the highest efficiency, the least cost, and the most contribution to protecting the environment And preserved.
