Al-Sharq, quoting a Lebanese judicial source, said today, Tuesday, that the investigation into the smuggling of quantities of Captagon narcotic pills from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia is still in its infancy, and that the central anti-drug crime office has started conducting its preliminary investigations under the supervision of the discriminatory Public Prosecutor Judge Ghassan Oweidat.

The source indicated that “Awaidat” is currently interrogating two defendants of Syrian nationality, suspected of being part of a group that placed the Captagon shipment inside the pomegranates before being shipped from the Beirut port to the port of Jeddah.

He added that there are two other defendants held pending investigation, in addition to two others against whom investigation and investigation notices were issued.
