The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Majid Abu Zahra, confirmed that the sky of the Arab world will witness the full moon of the blessed month of Ramadan on Monday evening, and the first giant moon of this year will be represented.
He said, “Its apparent size will be 14% larger and 30% more light than the average, which is an ideal opportunity for photography.”
He added: “It is expected that it will rise with sunset, and it will be covered with a reddish or orange color, as a result of dust and other plankton in the atmosphere around the earth, which scatter the white light reflected from it and disperse the colors of the blue spectrum and the colors of the red spectrum that we see remain, but after its height And moving it away from the horizon will appear in the usual silver white. ”
He pointed out that “the Ramadan giant moon will not have a significant impact on our planet except for the two phenomena of tides, which is a natural thing that occurs every month.”
He continued: “The moon is called either in conjunction or the full moon when the distance between the center of the moon and the center of the earth is within 362,146 kilometers.” At a distance of 357.378 km.
It is worth noting that this time of the lunar month is ideal for seeing the radiant craters on the surface of the moon compared to the rest of the terrain, which appears flat and its shadows are very short, because the face of the moon is completely located in the sunlight.
