South Africa suspends vaccine use

Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Against Coronavirus

South Africa announced the suspension of vaccination with the “Johnson & Johnson” vaccine as a precaution, after the US Food and Drug Administration decided to suspend its use in the United States.

The South African Minister of Health, Zwaili Mkhize, indicated that his country has donated more than 289 thousand doses of “Johnson & Johnson” vaccine to health workers without any news of blood clotting incidents.

He added that “his country will suspend the use of this vaccine as a precaution, in the interest of caution,” expecting that questions related to the vaccine will be resolved within days.

The company, “Johnson & Johnson” announced the delay in launching its anti-virus vaccine in Europe.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on its website on “Twitter” that it and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a joint statement about the “Johnson & Johnson” vaccine, recommending that its use be suspended for “precautionary considerations.”
