Sony Corporation’s annual profit rose to 1.1 trillion yen

Japanese electronic products company Sony announced today, Wednesday, that its profits have doubled during the last fiscal year to 17.1 trillion yen (8. 10 billion dollars) due to strong performance in the gaming and music sectors, as people spent more time at home due to the Corona pandemic.

Sony also recorded an operating profit of $ 9. 971 billion during the year that ended on March 31, an increase of 15% compared to the previous fiscal year, while sales increased by 9% to reach about 9 trillion yen.

Sales of the games’ services unit and companies increased by 3.34% to reach 6.2 trillion yen over the past year, while sales of the music sector increased by 6. 10% to reach 9. 939 billion yen.

The company’s profits increased in the quarter from January to March to reach 107 billion yen, while operating profits increased by 5.87% compared to the same quarter of last year, to reach 5.66 billion yen.

Sales increased by 27% to 2.2 trillion yen during the quarter. Sony expects to achieve net profit of 660 billion yen during the current fiscal year, which extends to March 2022, and operating profit of 930 billion yen, while sales are expected to record 7 9 trillion yen.
