He referred to the cooperation that the Saudi Food and Drug Authority carries out with its counterpart agencies in Russia, such as the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary Supervision and Phytosanitary, citing the numerous activities between these agencies and the leaders of the Russian food industry to support the arrival of Russian food products to the Kingdom’s market.
The President of the Food and Drug Authority stated that there is a noticeable increase in the number of Russian institutions approved by the “authority” for imports of meat, meat products, honey and eggs into the Kingdom, by (3) establishments in 2019 to (27) establishments in 2020 AD, and Russian food imports have also increased. The total amount to the Kingdom increased by more than 25% in 2020 AD, reaching about (141) 548 tons, which reflects the development of Saudi-Russian trade, and it is not affected by COVID-19.
For his part, Director of the Halal Center, Dr. Yusuf bin Salem Al-Harbi, during his participation in the meeting, explained the mechanism of the national system for halal in the Kingdom and the requirements for appointing bodies that grant halal certificates, and the Gulf standard specifications related to halal, and food products that require halal certificates that include meat, poultry and products that contain On ingredients of animal origin.
