A rare “Thunderbolt” or “Thunderball” poster from the popular British intelligence agent James Bond movie franchise will be auctioned on Friday and is expected to sell for up to $ 16,000.
The most notable of the Bond series’ memorabilia to be auctioned online is the 4-part poster showing “Agent 007”, whose role in this movie was Scottish actor Sean Connery, fighting bad guys and surrounded by pretty.
According to the British auction house Yubank, the poster was designed to be cut into 4 parts and was expected to sell for between 8,000 and 12,000 pounds ($ 11,000 and $ 16,500).
“There is always a huge base of collectors of James Bond related items and it seems to be growing as well,” Natalie Davis, an appraiser at Youbank, told Reuters.
Among the exhibits in the auction, titled “James Bond 007”, is an original poster dating back to 1962 for the first movie of the famous series, “Doctor No”, and is expected to sell for between 6 and 9 thousand pounds.
“All of our sales are now entirely online and we have noticed a huge surge in bidding,” Davis said of the situation during the “Covid-19” pandemic.
