Microsoft has abandoned the Cortana app for iOS and Android smartphones and devices.
On this topic, the company said in a blog on its official website, “As we announced last July, we will give up support for the Cortana app on Android and iOS devices, but our smart assistant will continue to develop as a production smart assistant.”
The blog also stated, “As of March 31, 2021, the content of the Cortana application will not work on mobile devices as before, but it will continue to work with devices operating on Windows systems, and Cortana reminders, lists and tasks will be automatically synchronized with the Microsoft To Do application that can be downloaded on the phone for free.” .
Experts believe that Microsoft decided to abandon this application in smart devices after it noticed that it did not meet the desired popularity of it, and did not achieve the goal it was hoping for in securing a smooth connection of these devices with computers operating in Windows systems, as well as that many users of smart devices prefer Relying on Google’s voice assistant or Apple’s Siri assistant.
Despite announcing that it will abandon the Cortana application for phones, Microsoft indicated that it will continue to develop artificial intelligence technologies to continue its voice assistant to work with computers to the fullest.
