Microsoft ships Device Surface Laptop 4 on April 15 in the US, Canada, and Japan, starting at $ 999 for an AMD model and $ 1,299 for an Intel model.
The difference in prices is likely due to the fact that Microsoft is not using the latest AMD 5000 series processors here.
Instead, Microsoft uses AMD’s Zen 2-based chips for AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors.
However, performance between Intel and AMD may be similar to some extent.
These processor improvements allow Microsoft to promise up to 70 percent more performance compared to the Surface Laptop 3, and some battery life gains.
Microsoft promises up to 19 hours of battery life over the 13.5-inch AMD model and up to 17.5 hours over the 15-inch AMD model.
Intel’s 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 4 is rated for 17 hours of battery life, while the largest 15-inch model is 16.5 hours.
And both Intel models ship with Intel’s latest Iris Xe graphics, which means games, like Overwatch, are playable at 1080p.
And Surface Laptop 4 maintains the same Surface Laptop 3 design that shipped in 2019.
There is one USB-C port, USB-A port, headphone port, and Microsoft Surface Connect charging port.
There is still no Thunderbolt support, and the M.2 NVMe SSD is still removable from the slot on the back of the device.
The AMD base model, measuring 13.5 inches, comes at a price of $ 999 with an AMD Ryzen 5 4680U processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

A second AMD model, with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, ships after about eight weeks, for $ 1,199.
And for the 15-inch measure, there are more AMD options starting with the $ 1,299 AMD Ryzen 7 4980U with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
