Forbes has revealed its annual list of the world’s richest people for 2021, which includes the 2755 richest people in the world. The number of billionaires on the list of the year increased by 660 billionaires compared to 2020, of whom 493 joined the list for the first time.

The list of the year included 22 Arab billionaires, compared to 21 billionaires last year, bringing their combined total wealth to an estimated $ 53.4 billion compared to $ 47.3 billion last year.

Nassef Sawiris topped the wealthy Arabs, with a net worth of $ 8.3 billion, up $ 3.3 billion from last year. His 6% stake in Adidas is his most valuable asset. Sawiris also runs OCI, one of the world’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers, with factories in Texas and Iowa.

The list included Issad Rebrab and the family, who is the only billionaire from Algeria, with a net worth of $ 4.8 billion. Rebrab runs the company (Cevital) he founded, which is the largest private company in Algeria, and it also owns the largest sugar refineries in the world with a capacity of two million tons annually. Suhail Bahwan, the sole billionaire from Oman, is estimated to be worth $ 2.3 billion.

Lebanese Robert Moawad is the only billionaire on the list residing in Bahrain, with a net worth of $ 1.4 billion. The two brothers Naguib and Taha Mikati are the only Lebanese residing in Lebanon on the list with a net worth of $ 2.5 billion each.

The list also included Bahaa, Ayman and Fahd al-Hariri, sons of the late Rafik Hariri, the Lebanese Prime Minister, who reside in Europe with a net worth of $ 2 billion, $ 1.3 billion and $ 1.1 billion, respectively.

Forbes has not counted the wealthy in Saudi Arabia, as it has stopped listing them since 2018.
