Based on the fact that what is happening is not a conflict between the Public Prosecutor and the Public Prosecutor of Appeal, and it is certainly not a political struggle between two currents as some portray it, and it is not a spur of the moment or the result of a file,
Indeed, what actually happened is that the Supreme Judicial Council took a decision based on the role assigned to it by the laws to ensure the proper functioning of the judiciary and its dignity and independence, and it was divided into three tracks: Request from the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, and from the head of the Judicial Inspection Authority to take action The appropriate one, each within the scope of his competence regarding the performance of Judge Mrs. Ghada Aoun, and being heard by the Council, because of her breach of the obligation of reservation, and her failure to implement her repeated undertakings before the Council, and her refusal to attend the public prosecution of discrimination,
Considering its positions and actions following the issuance of the decision of the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation on 15/4/2021 regarding the amendment of the distribution of work at the Public Prosecution Office of the Appeal in Mount Lebanon,
In light of the contents of the statements of Judge Mrs. Ghada Aoun in her hearing today before the Supreme Judicial Council,Regardless of what was raised about the content of the decision of the Public Prosecutor at the aforementioned Court of Cassation,
The Supreme Judicial Council decided the following:
Request from the Judicial Inspection Authority to take the necessary action.
Request from Judge Mrs. Ghada Aoun to abide by the decision of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation in effect to date.
The Council affirms that “the course of any investigation in any judicial file will be followed up to its end by the competent judiciary, regardless of which judge is following it, regardless of any considerations outside the judicial framework.”
The Council concluded its statement by calling on “the judges to abide by their oath, calling upon all to always appeal to the rule of law to advance the nation, and that the President of the Supreme Judicial Council should have a speech through the media in which he addresses the general judicial situation, at a date to be determined later.
