Gabonese Aubameyang missed his team’s victory against Sheffield United in the English Premier League, on Sunday, in addition to the second leg of the quarter-finals of the European League “Europa League” against Slavia Prague, on Thursday evening.
And the London club had previously revealed that the attacker had missed the cause of “illness” without giving details, but about ten minutes before the start of the whistle in Prague, Gabon announced his injury through a post on his account in Instagram.
He attached the message to a picture of him from the hospital saying, “Unfortunately, I contracted malaria during my international mission with Gabon a few weeks ago. I spent a few days in the hospital this week, but I feel better every day thanks to the doctors who detected and treated the virus early.”
“I have not felt well in recent weeks but I will come back stronger. I will be watching the youth now, a big game for us. Let’s go Arsenal.”
“Aoba” began the first leg against Slavia on the bench, last week, before entering and passing a decisive ball for the goal of the Ivorian, Nicolas Pepe, before the match ended 1-1.
The 31-year-old signed a three-year contract with Arsenal last year, but he struggled to regain his form this season and was excluded by the Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, from the London derby against Tottenham last month for behavioral reasons.
Obaming has scored only 9 goals in 25 league matches this season, compared to 22 last season.
It is unclear when the striker will return to competitions with his team.
