Press reports revealed the existence of 4 names competing to gain access to the presidency of the Saudi Al-Ahly Club, in light of the recent crises that Al-Raqi is witnessing, which led to the General Assembly’s desire for the departure of the current president, Abd al-Ilah Momena.

The media, Walid Al-Farraj, had recently stated, through his program “Al-League with Walid”, that Momena is preparing to submit an expected resignation with the selection of Prince Mansour bin Mishaal and the club’s top honorary Ziad Al-Youssef to succeed the current president in Al-Ahly.

Al-Farraj explained: “Once he resigned, he would leave the sports community permanently. It seems that the experience at Al-Ahly was harsh for him.”

While Al-Watan newspaper reported that the competition for the presidency of Al-Raqi was confined to 4 names: Majid Al-Nafiei, Yasser Mahrous, Fahr Al-Tayyeb, and Ziad Al-Youssef.

The newspaper pointed out that Fahr Al-Tayeb, who works as an agent for the players, expressed his desire to run, and not object to the solidarity responsibility, which amounts to 37 million riyals, with the support of the Ahlawi personality.

As for “Al-Nafiei”, he assumed the presidency of Al-Ahly in 2018 when Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the Saudi General Authority for Sports at the time, appointed him. Although the appointment decision extended for a year, he resigned from his post in December 2018 after the team’s results in the Saudi League declined.

It is expected that the Saudi Ministry of Sports will announce the opening of the door for candidacy for the presidency and membership of a new Al-Ahly administration, after announcing the acceptance of a secure resignation.

Al-Ahly’s balance stopped at 35 points, in seventh place in the Saudi League table.

Al-Ahly will host its Iranian counterpart, Independence, next Thursday, at the opening of its AFC Champions League campaign, as it falls in the third group, accompanied by Iranian independence, the Qatari lakhoya and the Iraqi police.
