Palestinians in the Gaza Strip fired him towards Beersheba during the Israeli elections

A video, posted on social media, showed the moment Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left a restaurant in the city of Beersheba on Tuesday after announcing the launch of a missile from Gaza towards the city, according to “Arab Net.”

Surrounded by a large number of his escorts, Netanyahu appeared, rushing out of the restaurant, which was crowded with attendees. The Israeli army announced that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip fired a missile at southern Israel shortly after Netanyahu toured the region on the day of the Israeli general elections.

“A short time ago, a shell was launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory,” an army statement said. An army spokeswoman confirmed that a missile hit an empty area.

Yesterday, the Israelis continued voting in their country’s fourth elections in two years. Opinion polls point to a race so close together that it is difficult to predict who will win.

Netanyahu is considered the most permanent Israeli prime minister in office, and he was able to seize power after two years of inconclusive elections, despite his corruption trial. He is currently on trial on charges of bribery and abuse of power. Netanyahu denies the accusations.

Opinion polls indicate slight progress in favor of Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud party in the final days of the election campaign, giving an expected coalition of conservative and ultra-Orthodox parties with about 60 seats in the 120-seat parliament.

Polling stations close at ten in the evening local time (20:00 GMT).

While opinion polls can indicate voting trends, the official result may not appear until late on Wednesday evening.

Netanyahu (71 years) is the most prominent political figure of his generation, and has been in power since 2009, while Yair Lapid, a former finance minister who leads the centrist “There is a Future” party, has become Netanyahu’s main rival.
