The UAE calls for strengthening joint Arab cooperation to meet the challenges of the region – the Arabs and the world – the Arab world


The United Arab Emirates affirmed that the increasing number of challenges facing the Arab region require collective action and an increase in cooperation and coordination, and dealing with these challenges with rationality and wisdom and giving priority to diplomatic efforts in solving the region’s crises, based on the principles of the state established in its Arab environment in order to achieve the aspirations of Arab peoples in building Development, stability, and promotion of joint Arab action.

This came in the speech of His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, during his presidency of the state delegation to the meetings of the League of Arab States Council at the ministerial level in its 155th regular session, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.

His Excellency congratulated the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for his re-election for a second term to lead this institution.

His Excellency said that among the challenges that lie before us today are the difficulties and the exceptional situation that we have faced and we are still facing all, which is the horrific spread of the new Corona virus, which continues to kill people, exhausts the economy and health services, and paralyzes social life, and its effects affect various walks of life.

His Excellency added that this challenge requires strengthening joint Arab action, regional and international cooperation and solidarity, to meet the urgent requirements of combating it and its effects that will extend to the future, and work on sustainable cooperation and coordination mechanisms in the field of control and medical services, securing vaccines and activating vaccination programs to ensure overcoming this crisis and recovering from it. And create a scientific, healthy and institutional environment suitable for facing any future epidemics.

On the Palestinian issue … His Excellency referred to the UAE’s appreciation of the results of the extraordinary meeting of the League of Arab States Council held on February 8th. International, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the two-state solution.

His Excellency affirmed that the UAE supports all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East and stands with the Arab consensus against all illegal practices that remain an obstacle to the two-state solution.

His Excellency the Minister Al Marar said that the UAE sees the importance of focusing on mobilizing support regionally and internationally and seizing all appropriate opportunities to create a new international momentum to break the deadlock in the political process and create the conditions for the return of negotiations to reach the two-state solution.

His Excellency also warned against foreign interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, as they constitute a threat that must be faced .. He said that Iranian and Turkish interference in Arab affairs is a clear example of negative interference in the region, which threatens the sovereignty, security, stability and safety of Arab countries, as well as threatening the security and safety of the movement. Regional and international maritime navigation that endangers the interests of Arab countries.

His Excellency expressed the UAE’s strong condemnation of the continued terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia on the territory of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the attack on its civilian and vital installations, which is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, reaffirming the need to stop the repeated attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and work together to secure the navigation movement International energy supplies, and affirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its security, borders, and the security of its citizens, and to respond to any attacks that affect this.

His Excellency said that the countries’ respect for their legal obligations and the principles of good neighborliness will remain the basic requirement of the UAE.

In this context, His Excellency renewed the UAE’s call to Iran to respond positively to its repeated calls for a peaceful solution to the issue of the three occupied Emirati islands, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, through direct negotiations or resorting to the International Court of Justice.

His Excellency said that the UAE is following the developments of the Yemeni crisis, and welcomes the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, and expresses its hope that this will be a step on the road to achieving a political solution and pushing the paths to end the Yemeni crisis.

He also praised the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in implementing the Riyadh Agreement, and its support and support for everything that achieves the interest of the Yemeni people … affirming the UAE’s support for the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in reaching a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis.

On the Syrian crisis, he reiterated the UAE’s assertion that a political solution is the only solution to end this crisis, stressing the UAE’s support for the efforts of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Syria, Mr. Gere Pederson, and other international efforts aimed at finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis .. He said: We affirm The importance of finding an active Arab role in the efforts for a political solution and helping Syria return to its Arab environment.

On the Libyan issue, His Excellency welcomed the formation of the new Libyan executive authority, expressing hope that this step would lead to achieving security, stability and development in Libya.

He also expressed the UAE’s aspiration for the success of the other tracks under the auspices of the United Nations, stressing the UAE’s continued support for the UN efforts to reach a peaceful and sustainable settlement in Libya.

At the same time, His Excellency stressed the need to stop foreign interference in Libya and the importance of the Arab role in peace efforts and supporting the political process in Libya.

On the situation in Iraq, His Excellency affirmed his support for all efforts concerned with achieving security, stability and prosperity for Iraq and its people, expressing the UAE’s condemnation and condemnation of all terrorist and criminal acts aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Iraq .. His Excellency said: We support Iraq in the face of foreign interference in its internal affairs and the attempts of the Nile. From its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

His Excellency added: The UAE reaffirms its support for all efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the brotherly Sudan, the success of the transitional phase, the achievement of development and prosperity, and the advancement of the urgent needs of the brotherly Sudanese people.

He welcomed the decision of the United States of America to remove Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism, stressing the UAE’s support for all efforts to restore Sudan to its normal state and everything that would achieve the aspirations of Sudan and its brotherly people.

His Excellency said that the UAE, as a peace-loving country, affirms its endeavors aimed at spreading a culture of tolerance, moderation and coexistence among peoples and giving preference to the language of dialogue and reason among them. It also affirms its approach to supporting everything that would achieve security and stability in the region.

In conclusion, His Excellency renewed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by all those in charge to make the work of this session a success and advance the process of joint Arab action, expressing aspiration to overcome the conditions that the region is going through so that the Arab peoples can enjoy security, stability and a decent life.
