The US space agency revealedNASA“A huge asteroid the size of a soccer field, which scientists called (RM45), will pass near planet Earth on Tuesday.

Scientists discovered the asteroid in 1999, which has a width of 680 meters and is scheduled to approach Earth 1.8 million miles, according to the “NASA” space agency.

The scientists said, “This distance is close enough for astronomers to monitor the asteroid and follow its movement, but in the same framework it does not represent any threat to the planet or its inhabitants.”

This view of asteroid Bennu ejecting particles from its surface on Jan. 6, 2019, was created by combining two images taken by the NavCam 1 imager aboard NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft.

Asteroids are rocky bodies with a diameter ranging between a few meters and several kilometers. The larger bodies are called dwarf planets, and the largest of them are the planets.

Scientists at NASA say that the rate at which an asteroid collides with the size of a soccer field is about once every two thousand years. What causes damage to the area and its surroundings.

The major bodies whose collision with our planet leaves tremendous devastation at the level of the Earth as a whole is a very rare event, and it last occurred 66 million years ago.

In recent years, the scientific community has doubled its efforts to count the bodies that swim near the Earth and whose orbit may intersect with the Earth’s orbit and hit them.

Theoretically, the collision of any of these objects would lead to a disaster, as the atmosphere will not be able to break them all up before they reach the earth, and their collision will leave thousands of deaths and tremendous destruction in all parts of the earth.

Therefore, scientists and space agencies are working to study possible ways to neutralize any object heading to Earth from its path, in plans reminiscent of science fiction movies.
