RIYADH: Saudi TV said early Thursday morning, local time, that the Saudi-led coalition had intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by Houthi militants in Yemen towards the city of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia.
The Houthis frequently fire ballistic missiles, drones and missiles at Saudi areas, causing some of them human and material losses.
Yemen has been witnessing a war for nearly 7 years, which has killed more than 233,000 people, and 80 percent of the population of about 30 million people are dependent on support and aid in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations.
The conflict that has existed since March 2015 has regional extensions, as a coalition led by the Saudi neighbor has been carrying out military operations in support of government forces, in the face of the Iran-backed Houthis, who control several provinces, including the capital, Sanaa.
