The “palace” instructed a law firm to deal with the investigation of the allegations, according to the British newspaper, The Times.
The Duchess denies allegations that she was the reason for the resignation of two personal assistants from her home and that she was undermining the confidence of a third employee, after they filed a complaint in October 2018. Buckingham Palace announced that it would review these allegations after the newspaper’s reports.
The British newspaper “Mail on Sunday” reported yesterday that Megan had requested “documents, emails or text messages” related to the case. A spokesperson for the Duchess declined to comment.
“Buckingham Palace” decided to hand the investigation over to “independent” investigators, and declined to comment, and a source said that he “will not provide any comment” until the circumstances of the allegations are examined.
Lawyers representing the former Sussex family described the allegations as a “calculated smear campaign based on misinformation.”
The allegations surfaced before the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Megan said she “was ignored when she sought help from the palace staff, when she was under psychological pressure.”
She also said that her husband, Prince Harry, told her that an unnamed individual in the royal family spoke of their son Archie’s complexion before he was born. The Duchess added that there were “fears and conversations about how dark his skin was when he was born.”
Winfrey later said that Prince Harry told her that “neither his grandmother nor his grandfather were part of that conversation.”
