The Israeli authorities announced the postponement of the launch of a campaign to vaccinate thousands of Palestinians working in Israel, and in settlements in the occupied West Bank, against the Corona virus, until further notice.

The Israeli Defense Ministry’s “Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories” unit stated, on Friday, that the postponement of the campaign that was scheduled to start on Sunday at the West Bank crossings and Israeli industrial zones came due to “administrative delays,” adding that the new date for the campaign would be determined later.

This comes against the background of the Israeli authorities’ exposure to international criticism for not taking action to vaccinate Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, especially those who work for Israeli companies and institutions, although Tel Aviv agreed to supply a number of allied countries with quantities of the vaccine.

The Associated Press reported that about 100,000 Palestinians from the West Bank work in Israel.

The Palestinian Authority has so far received quantities of the vaccine against Corona, sufficient to vaccinate only six thousand people, which means that the overwhelming majority of the seven million Palestinians living in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip will still be unable to receive the vaccine.
