Fazza Free Diving Championship finals today – Al Riyadi – all games


The finals of the “Open” and Gulf categories will take place today, and the juniors of the 15th edition of the Fazza Free Diving Championship “Al-Hiyari”, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai.

The top 10 players in the qualifiers for each category will participate in this stage, and the Serbian Branko Petrovic, the Croatian Domir Sobat, the Ukrainian Victor Reshetnyak, the Slovenian Samo Yaranko, the Egyptian Tamer Adel, the South African Dieter Bosseger, the Iranian Abdul Rahman Ahmed, will participate in this stage. Filipino Joel Acosta, and both Zaid Awad and Adel Abis, “Yemen”.

In the category of citizens and Gulf citizens, each of Muhammad Ghaleb Al-Muhairi, Yousef Al-Hammadi, Nayef Al-Mansouri, Owais Al-Nahawi, Hamdan Al-Askar, Abed Al-Marzouqi (Emirates), Abdullah bin Mubarak, Abdullah Al-Madhani and Omar Al-Arimi (Oman), and Hassan Al-Sharrah (Kuwait) qualified for the category of citizens.

While Suhail Al Marzouki, Sultan Al Suwaidi, Muhammad Karam, Marwan Musa Al Ghafli, Khaled Omar Al Bishr, Khalifa Al Hammadi, Maid Abdullah Al Zarouni, Omar Al Harmoudi, Salem Sultan Al Zarouni, and Omar Adel qualified in the Emirati Junior Class.

The qualifiers witnessed a remarkable participation from various nationalities, and the recording of distinctive numbers that reflected the keenness of divers to continue training despite the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, as well as the influx of international stars due to the distinguished reputation of the heritage championship, which has firmly established its feet at all levels.


Hamad Al-Rahumi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stressed that the good numbers that have been achieved, and the wide participation from various countries of the world and from the countries of the Cooperation Council in addition to local participation, is a positive thing in light of the current health conditions, and the commitment to apply precautionary measures.

He added: We thank all the work teams that help us achieve success in the championship, through lifeguards from the Dubai Police, the refereeing team from the Swimming Association, as well as those in charge of the Hamdan Sports Complex.


A young citizen, Abdullah Al-Hussam, who works as a civil engineer, appeared among the participants, and said: I am participating for the second time in the championship.

Those who love diving find the ability and time to continue their training despite the Corona pandemic, and I seek to excel in this heritage sport that we are proud of as it is linked to our heritage and our customs for hundreds of years. The sea and diving is my first love, and I am proud to be the first to implement the first self-supporting flagpole in the world under Water, in 2013, which is a number registered in the Emirates Encyclopedia of National Achievement Record, in which I combined my experience in engineering with my attachment to the sport of scuba diving.


On the other hand, the Serbian champion, Branko Petrovic, returned to the arena with great ambitions to regain the title, and he has a bus march of 10 years in the Fazza Championships for free diving Al-Hiyari, during which he won many titles and recorded new records, and said: I reside in the country and work in diving training .


The championship succeeded in attracting the rising generation through the influx of many young divers, including Khaled Omar (15 years old) and Muhammad Karam (13 years old). .

The two youngsters considered that the love of swimming attracted them to try free diving out of love to learn about this heritage sport, and try to learn its skills in the long term, expressing their thanks to the organizing committee for the establishment of this type of tournament.

Gulf participation

The competitions are witnessing Gulf participation, specifically from the Sultanate of Oman, where Abdullah Ali and Adel Khamis, lovers of the sea in general in various types of water sports, with their experience of free diving, strive to achieve the best possible result on the personal level before contemplating competition.
