Barcelona puts pressure on Atletico in Messi’s night

Argentine international star Lionel Messi led Barcelona to continue its pressure on leaders Atletico Madrid when they beat Huesca 4-1 at the end of the 27th stage of the Spanish Football League.

Messi, who played his 767 match in the colors of the Catalan club, equaling the record held by his former colleague Xavi Hernandez, scored the first and fourth goals for Barcelona in the 13th and 90th minutes in a wonderful way, and made the third goal for defender Oscar Minguisa (53), while the French international Antoine Griezmann scored the second goal in a way. Beautiful too (35).

Rafael “Rafa” Mir scored the guests’ only goal in the 45 + 4 minute, with a penalty kick.

Great results

The Catalan club continued its wonderful results domestically by achieving its fourth successive and fourteenth victory in its last 17 matches in La Liga, in which he did not taste the loss.

Barcelona benefited well from Atletico Madrid’s stumbling block in front of Getafe on Saturday, tightening the screws on him, reducing the difference between them to four points, and recovering the two-point difference in front of its traditional rivals Real Madrid, who barely won at home to Elche.

In his duo, captain Messi celebrated in the best possible way by tying the record number of matches with the Catalan club by playing the match 767 in various competitions since 2004, achieving the achievement of his former colleague, midfielder Xavi, the current coach of Qatar’s Al-Sadd club.

Xavi played the same number of matches in 17 years with the Catalan club before leaving him in 2015.

Messi has a chance to break the record when his team meets Real Sociedad next Sunday.

Messi raised his goalscoring tally with Barcelona to 21 goals this season and 661 goals with 263 assists in his career.

Messi also became the only player in the five major European leagues to score 20 goals or more in 13 consecutive seasons.
