The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the Riyadh-led coalition in Yemen launched air strikes to support the Yemeni government forces that repelled an attack by the Houthi rebels west of the Ma’rib governorate in the north of the country.

The agency published a video recording, which it said showed “the Houthi militia’s attempt to advance towards Marib in Al-Kasara was thwarted and confronted by the Yemeni National Army and tribes with the support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen and its air forces.

The agency stated that “the Houthi militia’s convoys were destroyed, their military equipment destroyed, some tanks hunted, and heavy losses inflicted on their terrorist elements.”

A Yemeni government source told Agence France-Presse that “at least 70 fighters were killed, including 22 government soldiers, and dozens of both sides were wounded in new confrontations during the past 48 hours.”

The official stated that the rebels “launched a violent attack accompanied by tanks and vehicles at the Ksara front, and the strong attack was repelled with the support of the coalition aircraft.”

For their part, the Houthis spoke on their Al Masirah channel about 38 airstrikes launched by the coalition in several locations in the Marib Governorate.

It is rare for the Houthi rebels to announce their losses.
