After “reassuring indications” of Corona, Saudi Arabia announces the suspension of the precautionary measures, starting from Sunday


Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced, on Friday evening, that the precautionary measures for the Coronavirus will not be extended, starting from next Sunday.

The Saudi News Agency (SPA) quoted a source in the Ministry of Interior, that the decision comes after “reassuring indications regarding the developments of the epidemic curve in the regions of the Kingdom.”

The source explained that the non-extension of the precautionary measures is related to all entertainment activities and events, cinemas, indoor entertainment centers, independent indoor games places, or those in restaurants and shopping centers, and the like, gyms and sports centers, and providing internal ordering services in restaurants, cafes and the like.

While all events and parties, including weddings and corporate meetings, will continue to be suspended in banquet halls and independent or affiliated wedding halls, as well as in breaks and camps that are used for these purposes, until further notice.

In addition to the survival of the maximum number of human gatherings in social events at 20 people.

The source stressed the need for everyone to adhere to these measures, including the continued distribution of prayers over funerals in cemeteries at all times of the day.

The Saudi Interior confirmed that inspection campaigns will be increased during the next stage, to ensure that all individuals and facilities adhere to the precautionary measures, and that fines are imposed on violators.

The source indicated that all precautionary measures are subject to continuous evaluation by the competent authorities, according to the developments of the epidemiological situation.

As of Friday, Saudi Arabia had 379,092 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 6,519 deaths, since the outbreak of the epidemic in the country.
