The Sharjah Press Club of the Sharjah Government Media Office organized today, Tuesday, as part of a series of meetings of the “Tawasul” initiative launched by the club in early 2018, a discussion session between representatives of local newspapers and officials of the General Administration of Civil Defense in the emirate, during which it was revealed that the rate of fire accidents during the year 2020 was about 56% compared to 2019, and no deaths were recorded as a result of fire accidents, in addition to a reduction in response time by 4.41%, and an increase in the rate of completing transactions on time by about 2.4%.
The meeting, which was held remotely via the Webex platform, was attended by Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of the Administration, Asma Al Juwaied, Club Director, Lt. Col. Hani Al Dahmani, Head of the Media and Public Relations Department, and Amina Al Hammadi, Head of Strategy and Performance Development.
Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi affirmed the administration’s keenness to build bridges of cooperation and positive communication with all media outlets, and to provide information with transparency and credibility to the public as a fundamental pillar of the administration’s media strategy.
Colonel Al-Naqbi pointed to the focus of the General Administration of Civil Defense on the media role, which ensures raising community awareness of the preventive guidelines to protect lives and property and reduce fire accidents.
Colonel Al Naqbi and Lieutenant Colonel Dahmani answered the various inquiries made by the journalists, while taking into consideration the development proposals that contribute to the service of society.
Amina Al Hammadi also reviewed the most prominent achievements of the administration during the year 2020, which include providing digital services to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in addition to the opening of 4 fire stations in Al Dhaid, Maliha, Kalba and Emirates Industrial City in Sharjah with the modernization of the fleet of civil defense mechanisms. .
Asmaa Al-Juwaed explained that these direct meetings contribute effectively and constructively to the exchange of views and come out with visions and ideas that serve the public interest, pointing out that the initiative comes within the media efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah and in line with its strategic objectives aimed at building a fruitful professional solidarity with various media outlets.
