Green tea has many health benefits, and as more research is done on its benefits, additional scientific evidence is constantly emerging about the benefits of this magical drink.

In a report published by the American magazine “Eat This Note”, the author, Orvega Banerjee, presented these benefits of drinking green tea daily:

1- Overcoming “superbugs”

Doctors have developed many antibiotics to combat many diseases, but some antibiotics are no longer effective due to the ability of bacteria, parasites and viruses to develop themselves. According to the Harvard Medical Journal, these advanced strains are known as “superbugs,” meaning those that can defeat antibodies.

A study published in 2008 revealed that drinking green tea with antibiotics significantly enhanced the bacteria’s fighting properties. A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology in 2019 concluded similar results.

2- Prevention of heart attacks and strokes

A study published in 2006, involving more than 40,000 adults in Japan, showed that those who drink more than 5 cups of green tea per day have a 26% lower risk of death from heart attacks or strokes.

According to the author, scientists are still trying to understand the relationship between green tea and improved heart health. Research published in the “Journal of Biochemistry” indicates that green tea contains a compound that prevents the accumulation of fatty plaques in blood vessels, thus reducing the risk of heart attacks or strokes.

3- Resisting autoimmune diseases

Research conducted at Oregon State University indicates that green tea contains the compound “epigallocatechin gallate” that can help our bodies fight autoimmune diseases.

Although the research was conducted on mice, the researchers believe that green tea does indeed help protect us from autoimmune diseases.

In autoimmune diseases, the immune system mistakenly attacks the tissues and cells of the body and perceives them as the enemy.

4- Reducing the risk of injury and death for diabetics

A study published in the journal BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care indicates that drinking 4 or more cups of green tea per day reduces the risk of death for people with type 2 diabetes.

A study published in 2018, conducted on a number of adults in Japan, found that drinking green tea may help prevent type 2 diabetes.

5- Prevention of cancer

Studies indicate that green tea may help prevent prostate and breast cancer, as it increases levels of the natural anti-cancer protein known as “p53”.

6- It increases life expectancy

Some long-term studies show that people who drink green tea consistently live longer than those who don’t. A study of more than 100,000 people in China, published in 2020, showed that those who drank green tea at least 3 times a week lived an average of 15 months longer than others.

The author explains that this does not mean that there is a direct relationship between drinking green tea and increasing the rate of life, and scientists are still trying to understand the relationship between the two. One explanation is that green tea drinkers usually follow a healthy lifestyle.

In conclusion, these tips are general, and for guidance only, and are not a substitute for consulting a doctor, following a healthy diet and enjoying physical activity, and green tea is not a cure for any disease.
